Cajus

Cajus is a lovely male with a very sweet presence. He is earthbound and has a calm temperament. He is easygoing with other dogs and has self confidence without being “macho”. As soon as he is allowed to work he puts on his turbo and his passion is ignited. He works really well in all terrein – including water. He has an amazing row of working certificates and he will retrieve anything when out hunting with his owner. He is primarily a functioning gun dog in daily life. Cajus has plenty of will to please and he is also a typical flatcoat who remembers very well were retrieves have been placed and his problem solving ability is great. He likes response and attention from his handler, who also is the breeder of Cajus. He lives with his mother Rosa who is also a great working flatcoated retriever. His father is Spader Damens Amenlis – a Swedish bred stud dog with remarkable results in field trials and shows. Cajus takes a lot after his father – by looks and style of working – but also in character. We are very thankful to Maike that we may use Cajus to mate Lotte. Cajus has produced a couple of litters previously. Cajus is a certified “Spezielle Jagliche Leistungszucht” stud dog according to the German Retriever Club DRC:

Lotte is a sweet and energetic girl with an outgoing attitude. She takes after her mother – having some mind of her own, good problem solving ability and high motivation to work. Lotte is a very independent worker – she is extremely handy in rough terrein like rocks and she is fantastic in the water. Lotte has a high awareness of her surroundings and therefore she never misses a thing. While hunting she is very calm and attentive but it can also be a a little challenging for her to let go of what is happening around her. Lotte is very soft mouthed and she loves to retrieve – especially geese. At home she is very sweet – loves to cuddle and hang out on the couch. She is very kind with other dogs and people and never gets into trouble. She will avoid any conflict if possible and yet she stands her ground if another dog is being intrusive. Lotte has done really well in the show arena, which is remarkable as she is in the lighter/smaller range compared to other bitches in that discipline. Lotte is beside a family dog being used in gundog competitions and practical hunting on (water) fowl. She has learned well from her mother to work on hurt ducks diving and hiding.

Motivation for this litter:

First of all I believe that Rumi and Brösel have passed doen some fantastic working abilities to her daughter and Lotte truly is the 2.0 version of her mother having a functioning off button from early age and her being easygoing socially is really a good asset in a working gun dog. So then I thought what would I like to compliment her with? That would be some more bone and a compact body. In this way I expect the puppies to have more substance without gaining height and size. Temperament wise Lotte is lively enough and I do not need more speed or hyperness so Cajus being a passionate worker with a very sensible and down to earth kind of dog will maintain the steadyness and maybe even add some laid-backness to the table. Cajus is known to pass on his bone and muscles, but also his temperament. Both are very social and kind dogs liking to hug and kuddle, so we expect their offspring to have a liking for human contact. As they are both active gun dogs we anticipate having puppies with above average “nose”, making them suited for owners with some experience and interest for this trait as they will probably have a high activity level with a particular interest in wild/live game and eagerness to work. Considering the looks of the parents and their heritage from their pedigree – we expect them to be pretty too. A dual purpose litter empathizing hunting intelligence and functional anatomy. If you are out in the field on long days – why not have something beautiful to watch while it runs elegantly across te the field?

The pedigree consists of old English working lines and some well known Swedish bred working dogs. The inbreed coefficient is 0 of this combination, so we contribute in maintaining the breed’s genepool for the future.

We expect to welcome liver and black colored puppies in December 2023 – meaning they will probably be ready to move to their forever homes in February 2024.
